Quick summary of this weekâs forecast:
a week for love. for wild expressions. for messes and cleaning them up, but knowing the messes are the best part. for opening up. for asking questions. for knowing what questions youâre asking.
Announcements:
Weâve officially entered eclipse season, which is often a time of destabilization and shifting plans. I find it best to stay loose đ§đȘż in this month of change⊠I find astrology readings are helpful for me as I approach uncertainty. And, eclipse season is a great time for supporting those experiencing displacement, famine, and persecution. For the month of September, I am offering free birth chart readings for people who donate $50+ to World Central Kitchen â an org bringing millions of hot meals those suffering from forced famine in Gaza. To book a session, send me a screenshot of your donation confirmation through email or Substack and I will share a direct booking link. You can see my availability for sessions here, too.
On Friday, September 5 at 3PM CT:
is hosting a free Q+A through (âsubscribe to get the event reminder!) for anyone thinking about becoming a therapist â just in time for getting grad school applications together. I suggest listening to this coming Tuesdayâs ep called âSo You Think You Wanna Be a Therapist?â too, where I ask her to both convince me and convince me not to go to school for counseling. :)Exact Transits:
Sunday, August 24: Sun in Virgo square Uranus in Gemini
This is a thinking square with both planets in the signs ruled by Mercury (our mind, our voice, our language). Today is a day to consider what you do differently â to remind yourself that you are the only you. You are the only person living this life. And so all these formulas for your career, your relationships, your creations⊠they arenât for you. You can study them, sure, but today is the day to acknowledge they are just experiments and so, you too, are experimenting in your own way.
Monday, August 25: Venus enters Leo
Venus makes me think of the wisdom âwhat you focus on grows.â Venus is in Leo for a little less than a month (until September 19). If you are a particularly Venusian person (Taurus or Libra dominant people, artists, lovers, diplomats), give yourself the project in this time period to focus on what brings you and your people warmth. What boosts your soul? Do this. Do it with your full being. Venus in Leo is also a very good time for offering generous gifts and receiving them too.
Monday, August 25: Venus in Leo trine Saturn in Aries
This transit doesnât happen very often. I sense this will be a very, very good day for becoming clear on not just WHAT you care about but HOW you will prove yourself as a steward of it. Taking action is good this day, but simply planning for action toward good stewardship is plenty ;)
Tuesday, August 26: Venus in Leo sextile Uranus in Gemini
This is the moment to *get in there.* Get messy. See what sticks. Let the dangerous, wild parts of yourself fly around.
Tuesday, August 26: Venus in Leo trine Neptune in Aries
Make contact with someone. Exchange love. Let it fill you up.
Tuesday, August 26: Mercury in Leo square Lilith in Scorpio
Man, this is a hot day. Hot bodied. Hot headed. Weâre playing with fire today. Power. Open mouths and tongue. I want to say be careful but Lilith wouldnât use caution when she has the microphone.
Wednesday, August 27: Venus in Leo opposite Pluto in Aquarius
Someoneâs fighting someone. Someone is bidding for affection, though the other person may not see it that way. Sometimes steam whistling out the top is the only way to know the kettle water is boiling. And in these times, heat becomes the doorway into greater love.
Sunday, August 31: Mercury in Leo trine Chiron in Aries
Get it off your chest. This is one of those days where sharing what has hurt you will bring people closer.
the memo
Loving someone else is following an inquiry. Possibly. The question could be âhow long will they love me?â âWhy canât they love me?â âWhat about this person brings me this incredible sense of calm?â And this other person is also following an inquiry. You may never know what their questions are. Their questions may not even be their own, but questions their people have asked for centuries, passed down through nurture or through blood. Or through the land.
This is the week to see what questions youâre asking â and to see if these questions are the ones youâre actually saying out loud.
Itâs not always between you and another human, too. These inquiries are just as potent when held up against yourself.
Iâm thinking about this 200 page memoir manuscript I was crafting a couple years ago. Wildly, fiendishly, I was writing fragments about my mind and body disconnection. My inquiry for this project was something like, âwhen and how did I separate them so? And how can I reconnect them?â A friend
said recently, after I asked if it was clear through my poetry that I was struggling to know my body, âbut, KP, I see that you are very connected to your body.â I donât think the manuscript is any good but the active inquiry (of always looking for fragments to weave into this story, my thinking, how I pursued weight lifting and yoga and breathing, how I connected body neutrality to thinking neutrally about the land I lived on) got me to where I needed to be: back inside, not floating up in the sky.I see inquiry is acknowledging you do not know an answer, but you are pointed in the right direction. And you keep step forward on that path of question marks.
field journal

helloâI am easily persuaded by beautiful things. Beautiful people. Beautiful places. I took my own advice and thought hard about what persuades me and I felt less joyful. A man took me on a golf cart tour around the acreage of a horse and canoe camp, and I worried I was being too persuaded by the sublime and so I shut myself off from its powers. I worried I was too easily persuaded by another personâs displeasure or my own guilt. I got as much done as I hoped this past week, but I donât know if I want to have a life where I resist being persuaded so much. Just so I can do what I want to do, though I wasnât sure what I wanted anyway.
